Item Description
Large, nice quality 23-5/8x27.5" double-mat w/acetate cover contains 16x20" artboard w/impressive mixed media original art portrait of Boston Red Sox legend Ted Williams (1918-2002), nicknamed "The Splendid Splinter" and widely regarded by many to be the greatest hitter who ever lived. A 19-time All-Star, two-time AL MVP and two-time Triple Crown winner, Williams was elected to the National Baseball HOF in 1966. Art was created by Doug West, a renowned sports artist who has done extensive work for MLB, NFL, NHL and more. West has created wonderful portrait of Williams in Red Sox cap beside image of him at bat. West has signed art at lower right. Prior owner of art had Williams personally sign art in blue felt tip pen at lower left, Williams adding "Best Wishes" inscription. Williams' signature measures nearly 5.5" wide. NM and ready for framing. An extremely impressive and truly one-of-a-kind piece. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
