Item Description
These famous cereal give-away buttons were created by the master of premiums for kids, designer Sam Gold. Millions of these 13/16" litho buttons went into post-war cereal boxes. Offered here are two different approx. 6.25x7.5" Kenyon & Eckhardt Inc. Advertising proofs for newspaper ads promoting the Pep Military Insignia and Warplane Buttons. Both are dated 1945, towards the end of this promotion and the same year the classic comic character pins began. Both have evenly aged to cream in color and are o/w Exc. Comes w/6.5x9.5" clipped comic book ad featuring yet another design for this promotion. Ad has some tape repairs on back and is Fine overall. Of note, both proofs and ad note 22 pins, but there were a total of 36 in the set. The proofs are the only examples we've seen in our 54 years. Rare ephemera pair for the Pep collector. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
