Item Description
1" litho w/Chicago union bug on reverse. Likely issued by the Communist affiliated International Labor Defense. Paint wear from moderate use most notably scattered missing dots on curl. Fine. Scarce. The Italian immigrants were convicted of killing a paymaster at Slater & Morrill Show Co. in 1921 after a trial that saw heavy influence from anti-Anarchist and anti-immigrant sentiments. The pair became a cause célèbre and despite a series of appeals were electrocuted in 1927.
