Item Description
3.5x5.5" thin card stock. Portraits of the two labor martyrs set against a prison exterior. Headline at top "The Noble Fighters For The Cause Of The Workers." Postcard is unused w/age toning on reverse, corner wear and light handling. Fine. Also included is a 7/8" button w/edge stains, tiny cut and glue residue around what appears to be a replaced collet. During the 1912 strike at the Massachusetts mill Anna LoPizzo was shot during a police crackdown. Giovannitti and Ettor, though they were some three miles away at the time of the incident, were soon arrested for inciting a riot. Giovannitti was a poet and his incarceration along w/media attention around the trial led to his work being widely published. The pair along w/another arrested at the time were acquitted. This is the first time we can recall offering the postcard in our 54 years.
