Item Description
This marvelous 1930s  1.25" button is one of the very few ever to picture two characters from two different newspaper comic strips jointly making an endorsement, in this case, for a New York City / Northern New Jersey depression era department store. The relative newcomer (1931, Detroit Mirror by Chester Gould ) tells Little Orphan Annie ( 1924, New York Daily News by Harold Gray) "Shop At Genung's And Save".  Complete with James Spencer / Phila. back paper. Cello has tiny raised bump on Tracy's ear as made and NM. Limited area issue with about 5 seen over five decades. Even rarer is the one seen striking black on silver slogan button "We Are Optimistic / Genung's" . Reverse 1" hairline cello split lays flat and button is otherwise NM.
