Item Description
Berni Wrightson's masterpiece, a collection of illustrations for a new edition of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley's Frankenstein, was in the works in the 1970s but would not be released for a few more years. Some of the early images were released in this limited portfolio and they set fans on fire for the final product! Original illustrated envelope contains six 11x15.75" plates that are simply stunning in their highly detailed presentation. Issued as a limited edition by Tyrannosaurus Press, 12.5x16-1/8" envelope bears hand-numbered "220/1000" edition numbered and has been signed by Wrightson (1948-2017) in black felt tip pen at lower left. Envelope has some scattered dust soiling along bottom and is VF overall. Comes w/printed letter from Tyrannosaurus Press. The plate featuring the body of Justine Frankenstein hanging from rope has .25x1.25" streak of lt. staining at upper right and is Fine/VF while rest remain clean and Exc.
