Item Description
3-3/8"x5-3/8" vintage silver gelatin postcard depicting 12 team members seated on a grass field with picket fence in the background. The 1906 Syracuse Stars finished in third place with a final record of 70-65 in the Class B New York State League under Manager Sandy Griffin. A total of 12 ballplayers from this ball club would go on to play Major League baseball with the most notable being Jack Fifield from 1897-1900, primarily with the Philadelphia ball club of the National League. Handwritten message in ink appears on the right side of the divided front, with lt. postal cancellation appearing across the lower portion of the photo. Undivided back has been postally used with a cancellation date of August 30, 1906. Minor foxing appears on both sides of the postcard with no other significant condition issues. Fine/VF.
