Item Description
Errol McCarthy is an artist/illustrator noted for his work on Peterson Publishing titles Hot Rod Cartoons, CARtoons and Cycletoons as well as for his later work on popular toylines like Hot Wheels and Masters of the Universe. Offered here is 11-1/8x14" artboard w/applied sheet of vellum bearing pen and ink original art for one-page story lampooning Marvel Comics' The Thing character of Fantastic Four fame from 1970s Peterson Publishing title (either Hot Rod Cartoons of CARtoons). Great cartoon image of the Fantastic Four ever-loving', blue-eyed Thing seated in hot rod/tank mash-up, which drives over another car as The Bulk plucks driver from nearby car. Top features "Cars Of The Great Hero/Ines" title stat paste-over w/paste-over text block at lower right. McCarthy has signed at lower right. Vellum has aged and has strip of masking tape along lower right margin but o/w remains clean and Exc. Artboard has pin holes at top corners and attached stiff paper overlay.
