Item Description
3-3/8"x5-3/8" vintage matte postcard depicting 13 ballplayers in full uniform along with one gentleman dressed in military uniform posed on a grass field. Caption at bottom reads "U.S. Marine Base Ball Team All Champions - 1916-17, Guam, M.O.". Baseball images depicting military personnel are always highly desirable and this one is no different. Stray ink marks visible in the upper left-hand corner on front along with a couple of handwritten names on back. Image quality of the photograph is excellent. Divided postcard back remains unused, AZO stamp box dates the card to 1904-18, which is consistent with the subject matter pictured. Fine. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
