Item Description
2-1/16x3-1/8".Bowman produced a 252 card set in 1952 utilizing the same size cards as the previous year. The cards are color art productions of actual photographs and feature a facsimile autograph on front. Although the set boasts several Hall of Famers from the 1940's and 1950's, collectors flock to the Willie Mays card as it represents a second year card that is considerably more affordable than his 1951 Bowman rookie card. Although his card values have historically lagged behind Mantle, many baseball historians as well as educated collectors believe that "The Say Hey Kid" may have been the best all-around ballplayer of all-time. Mays was a 2-time NL MVP, 24-time NL All-Star, 12-time Gold Glover, World Champion, NL Rookie of the Year, Batting Title winner and was elected to the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1979. The card presented here is an excellent mid-grade example with sharp corners and Willie just about to smash another long ball, CSG 5 EX.
