Item Description
23.25x32-5/8" frame contains double-matted oil on board original art depicting four unitard-clad women seated in circle, two of which pull at the skin of their faces; one revealing elderly face beneath as ray of light emanates from star above. Art is by Peruvian artist Boris Vallejo, best known for his hyper-representational paintings, which have appeared on the covers of numerous sci-fi and fantasy paperbacks and are featured in a series of best-selling calendars. Subjects of his paintings are typically sword and sorcery gods, monsters, and well-muscled male and female barbarians engaged in battle. This piece was featured as the cover to the 1978 first edition of Steven Spruill's Keepers Of The Gate paperback. Vallejo has signed at lower left. Exc. and ready for display as framed under glass.
