Item Description
27.5x30-3/8" frame contains double-matted oil on board original art depicting Sci-Fi hero Flash Gordon slashing alien w/his sabre. Art is by Peruvian artist Boris Vallejo, best known for his hyper-representational paintings, which have appeared on the covers of numerous sci-fi and fantasy paperbacks and are featured in a series of best-selling calendars. Subjects of his paintings are typically sword and sorcery gods, monsters, and well-muscled male and female barbarians engaged in battle. This piece was featured as the cover to the 1980 Tempo Books edition of David Hagberg's Flash Gordon: War Of The Citadels paperback. Vallejo has signed at lower left. Exc. and ready for display as framed under Plexiglas.
