Item Description
After beginning his professional baseball career in 1957 with the Cleveland Indians, Roger joined the Kansas City Athletics for the second half of the 1958 season. From 1960-66, Maris would enjoy his greatest success culminating with his breaking of Babe Ruth's all-time, single-season home run record in 1961 with a total of 61 dingers, although in an extended season that lasted 8 games longer than Ruth's original 154 game schedule. Roger would conclude his career with the St. Louis Cardinals in 1967-68. Maris was a 2-time MVP, 3-time World Champion, 7-time All-Star and Gold Glove winner.
