Item Description
Vintage 5x7.5" matte finish photo shows Jimmie Foxx (1907-1967), who played 20 seasons in MLB for the Philadelphia Athletics (1925-1935), Boston Red Sox (1936-1942), Chicago Cubs (1942, 1944) and Philadelphia Phillies (1945). He was a three-time AL MVP, 1933 Triple Crown winner, nine-time All-Star and two-time World Series champ. Nicknamed "Double X" and "The Beast," Foxx was elected to the National Baseball HOF in 1951. Photo shows him in a Red Sox uniform (dating photo to 1936-1942), w/baseball stadium in bkg. Photo has been inscribed/signed in black ink, Foxx writing "To A Very Charming Little Lady - Jimmie Foxx." Photo shows obvious handling wear w/.25x.75" corner tip off at top right and pin holes at top/bottom center margins and at upper right. Scattered surface wear, partially affecting beginning of inscription, which remains legible. Bottom corners have creasing. Archival tape repairs on back to.5" and 1" tears at top and archival tape reinforcement added on back to bottom corner creases. VG overall. Unique Foxx-signed piece w/a great inscription. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
