Item Description
11x17" offset print on glossy card stock produced before the show for promotion. Illustrated in King, Herring & Gore authored book Maximum Plunder on p.49. Pencil signed by artist in lower right margin by artist Mike King who refers to this design as "The Five Faces Of Fred" Flintstone. The Butthole Surfers were touring on their acclaimed third album Locust Abortion Technician (LAT). By 1987 word had spread widely about the Butthole Surfers' indulgent anarchic live shows often including disturbing layered film projections, violence, cymbals set ablaze, Kathleen Lynch the naked dancer and more antics making for a nihilistic experience skirting the line of acceptable taste. The 1,000 capacity crowd at Pine Street Theater (later renamed La Luna & RKCNDY) was surely tantalizingly dismayed during their Oct. 26 performance w/openers Smegma & Hellcows (who featured artist Mike King on drums). Trivial corner wear. Otherwise, extremely clean. Exc. Despite the commercial success of 1996's single Pepper which topped Billboard's Modern Rock Tracks chart, this period of the band's work is considered their artistic prime w/LAT often name checked as the band's finest effort.
