Item Description
11x17" offset print on un-coated card stock produced before the show for promotion. Advertising a "Fri. Feb. 9" concert at Pine Street Theater in Portland, OR featuring Screaming Trees, Nirvana, Tad and Rawheadrex. Terrific design featuring dinosaurs and 1950s-esque woman in shock at right. Signed in print by artist Steven Birch at left of graphic "Mr. Steve 1990." Well flattened vertical and horizontal creases, pin holes in corners and moderate handling. Holes and scattered tears from being stapled and removed from a telephone pole. Some of these affect graphics but none interrupt the design significantly enough to greatly detract from the visual impact. Good/VG. An important poster from before the culture-altering rise of the grunge scene. Despite the solid critical response to their debut album Bleach, released July 15, 1989, Nirvana continued to play second to the more established bands of area, here opening for Screaming Trees who had recently signed a major label contract w/Epic Records. Twelve songs from this concert were released as part of the 20th Anniversary edition of Bleach.

All Nirvana posters from this stage of the bands career are scarce and this design is among the most attractive. That fact combined with the terrific slogan "It Came From Up North" this poster is among but a handful in the running to answer the question "If you had only one Nirvana poster which one would it be?"
