Item Description
5.5x8.5" program w/24 pages for concert that took place Oct. 14, 1967 at the Chapel Auditorium at Susquehanna University in Selinsgrove, PA that was headlined by The Doors. This followed The Doors' memorable Sept. 17, 1967 performance of Light My Fire on The Ed Sullivan Show. Prior to performing, network executives asked that the word "higher" be removed in favor of "better." The group agreed, but performed the song in its original form, for reasons that are still debated today. Due to this, the show's host, Ed Sullivan, canceled another six appearances that had been planned. Program cover features "The Doors" logo and photo of the band. Aside from brief band biographies on inside front cover, rest of program is devoted to fraternity/sorority content as well as advertisements for local restaurants and businesses. Of note, one such school-related ad reads in part "Help Light The Fire Of Education," a not so subtle reference to one of The Doors' most popular hits. Pin hole at top left corner, running through entire program. Back cover has some tape staining at center. Pin creases to spine. Fine overall.
