Item Description
2.5x8". "Spartan Association" was an Irish Catholic Democratic club of New York. Eagle holds ribbon "New York Must Be Redeemed". To the bottom left of Van Buren is US Capitol. Below standing portrait reads "The Workingman - He Is To Society What The Main Mast Is To The Ship." Light moisture mark at bottom. VF. This was likely produced for the 1844 campaign. Van Buren was the front runner heading into the Democratic convention only to be defeated by Polk.
