Item Description
2.5" w/curl naming Phila. Badge. Reverse has metal back and fixed horizontal bar pin. Baseball design on front w/text. Although unconfirmed, text would indicate this button was issued in recognition of Hank Greenberg's military efforts during World War II. In addition to being the most noteworthy Jewish baseball player in history, Greenberg was especially known for being the first MLB player drafted and called into service during the war. Metal back has thin gray tape strip across bottom. Front has only minor trace of wear mostly only seen in reflected light. Bright and glossy. Exc. Unlisted in Muchinsky and the only example we've seen in our 55 years.
