Item Description
1.25" w/Cresent Art Gallery, Kansas City, MO on curl. Full color design featuring the 1900 Democratic ticket set against a silver moon eclipsing a golden sun w/the GOP standard bearers. For extreme accuracy we note a tiny surface indentation affecting Stevenson portrait that does not break the cello and is visible only in reflected light. Minor oxidation on reverse and only light surface wear. Exc. The solar eclipse on May 28, 1900 captivated the publics imagination and clever button manufacturers took advantage of the hysteria producing a litany of outstanding designs around the Presidential campaign. The majority of these are sepia toned making full color varieties especially exciting. Additionally, this is the only jugate design to incorporate this charming campaign motif making it easily the top 1900 Bryan jugate and placing it high in any ranking of golden age buttons.
