Item Description
11x17" artboard features pen and ink comic cover original art for Spectacular Spider-Man #68, published by Marvel July 1982. Art is by Ed Hannigan w/inks by Al Milgrom. Cover features close-up of the issue's villain Robot-Master, w/action-packed image of Spider-Man battling two of his robotic creations reflected in his eyepiece. Title stat is applied to acetate overlay and blank Marvel/UPC block stat has been applied in appropriate spot. Handwritten title, issue number, publication/shipping months and artists' name at bottom margin in blue pencil along w/additional editorial notations. Back of artboard has additional pencil editorial notation, inked "OK" note and penciled artist names at top. Back has some strips of stickiness as once mounted. Art and stats have been neatly hand-colored w/watercolors post production (and somewhat match final published version), possibly used as a try-out for a new colorist. Watercoloring has resulted in obvious rippling to title stat. Acetate overlay is attached w/aged masking tape along top and has some aged printer registration labels at left/right and underneath. Pin holes at centers of all four margins. Scattered aging/wear. VG/Fine overall but art would make nice framed display.
