Item Description
15-3/8x16" double mat w/7.75x11.5" opening contains lead pencil preliminary original art on aged vellum sheet by renowned comic artist Joe Jusko for series of Tarzan At The Earth's Core trading cards released in 1995. Jusko is known for his realistic painted fantasy, pin-up and cover illustrations, his work clearly evident in this Thipdar Attack preliminary sketch, which shows Tarzan aiming bow and arrow at attacking Thipdar, a pteranodon-like winged reptile. Jane is also present, seen from the back. Art has been matted alongside label and example of the final published card. Art has handwritten "At The Earth's Core" title in pencil at tip left. Top right corner is off and vellum has three tiny tears, not distracting. Fine overall. Comes w/6-5/8x10" Colossal Cards example, featuring same final art mounted to brown paper. Bill Kamper Tarzan Collection.
