Item Description
4-5/16" tall with brass hanger and brass fob joined by dark blue ribbon. Hanger with large eagle and small Liberty Bell is inscribed "Television". The fob below depicts Benjamin Franklin outdoors in a storm with a key suspended from his kite string and two lightning bolts next to the kite. Text is "Republican National Convention/Philadelphia 1940". This event was the birthplace of the televised live political convention and the few crew members that would have received this badge operated Station W3XE, a Philco experimental station that later became Phila. station KYW. Reverse has name of badge maker Bastian, Rochester. Exc. and historic. Only example known to us.
