Item Description
2-3/16" dia. button w/metal back and horizontal bar pin. This button was first pictured/promoted in the Jan. 1949 issue of Chicago's TV Forecast magazine. The article references the Sunday Sun-Times newspaper as well as TV channel WBKB. WBKB had a TV program featuring Don and Vera Ward reading some newspaper comic strips and the article offered this membership button. In addition to Superman, a parrot along w/comic characters Nancy and Sluggo are pictured. A little silver luster off the reverse with the front being near flawless except for a near pinpoint dark dot above Sluggo's hat which appears to be a minute speck of paper trapped beneath the celluloid. Almost no surface wear, high gloss and no color fade. Exc. High grade example of a rare button we have only offered a few times in our 55 years.
