Item Description
10.75x16-1/8" artboard has pen and ink original art by Gil Kane and inked by Dick Giordano for page 27 of Marvel Premiere #15, published by Marvel May 1974. This issue saw the debut of popular Marvel martial artist/superhero character Iron Fist and art features seven panels from his origin story, showing young Danny Rand witness the death of his mother and his rescue and arrival at the legendary city of K'un-Lun. Last two panels show Iron Fist in the present, reacting to Shu-Hu's attack. Second to last panel shows great close-up of Iron Fist while last panel shows full body image of the kung-fu hero in the screentone shadow of his opponent. Second panel has replaced text block taped in place w/aged masking tape on back and third panel has aged paste-over w/piece of tape adhering updated art in place (as published). Page number and continuation strip stats taped in place along bottom margin. Back has Marvel copyright inkstamp w/inked date. Top margin has been slightly trimmed but inked "Premiere" portion of title (and some of "Marvel") remain, as do issue number, month and page number. Margins have some strips of tape staining at top left/right and bottom center, not infringing into art. Some scattered margin/edge staining, w/two small spots of staining on close-up image of Iron Fist in second to last panel. Fine overall. This page represents an amazing opportunity to obtain a rare and unique piece of original art from the debut issue of one of Marvel's most popular comic book characters.
