Item Description
10.5x16" thin artboard has pen and ink original art for page 14 of July, 1975 issue of Marvel's Creatures On The Loose featuring Man-Wolf. Page features 11 panels, showing Man-Wolf captured and trying to breakout of a dark cell. Last panel has rocketship containing Man-Wolf. Art was for "Weird Stone" storyline written by David Kraft w/art by legendary Marvel and DC artist George Pérez (1954-2022) w/inks by Frank McLaughlin. This is early Pérez art as he made his professional debut w/Marvel's Astonishing Tales #25 (Aug. 1974) as penciler of an untitled two-page satire of the character Deathlok, star of that comic's main feature. He soon became a Marvel regular, rising to prominence w/Avengers (starting w/issue #141). In the 1970s, Pérez illustrated several other Marvel titles, including Inhumans and Fantastic Four. Stamped title at top along w/handwritten issue/page numbers. Artboard has some lt. handling wear w/strips of aged tape holding a partial artboard and three paste-up panels at top of new artboard. Fourth panel is a stat covering original art. Knockout type in five dark panels are stats over hand lettered text. Last panel has small bit of type missing. Back of page has Marvel stamp and blue pencil block lettering "Same-Size Neg!" Signed at bottom in pen by Pérez. Remains VF. Charles Lippincott Collection.
