Item Description
22-1/2x28-1/4" thin cardboard. Promoting ticket sales for a "Concert & Dance" at "Memorial Aud." in "Chattanooga" Tennessee on "Thur. Aug. 8". Headlined by Little Richard w/additional acts Bobby "Blue" Bland, Junior Parker, The 5 Royales, Wynonie Harris, Big Maybelle, Tab Smith, Jimmy Reed, Noble Watts and Tony Harris. Alternating red and black ink against the cream board makes for a terrific and bold design by the legendary Globe Posters in Baltimore, MD. Richard was in the midst of his artistic height for this show having already charted three major hits in '57; "The Girl Can't Help It," "Lucille" and "Jenny, Jenny" and before the year was out he'd add two more in "Good Golly, Miss Molly" and "Keep A Knockin." The architect of rock 'n' roll was in good company this night w/three more future Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famers on the bill in Bobby "Blue" Bland, The 5 Royales and Jimmy Reed. A less than .25" margin ding at right of Maybelle portrait and a faint corner bend at bottom left. Otherwise, typical minor age toning at edges and minor corner rounding amounting to light handling wear. Exc. A high grade example, as nice as they come of this poster featuring an alluring lineup of influential artists who helped pave the way for the future of rock 'n' roll.
