Item Description
10x14-7/8" cardboard standee features image of box of Ogilvie Minute Oats w/small image of Superman on it. Same (but much larger) image of Superman stands behind box. Instead of iconic "S" symbol on chest, the "Superman" comic book title logo appears (same on box image). Standee was for store use to promote Canadian Ogilvie Cereal Co./The Ogilvie Flour Mills Co., Limited product. c. 1940. Top left has "Listen On Mondays - Wednesdays - Fridays - See Your Newspaper For Time Of Broadcast - 28 Canadian Stations" text, promoting the Superman radio show w/image of radio microphone. Ogilvie issued rare premiums that included a brass badge and a decal sheet. Standee has some warping w/resulting surface paper ripples and scattered color rubs. Top radio advertisement has staining at top left w/staple holes at top/top corners. 1" area of scuffing below image of Ogilvie product box. Standee is missing w/remnants remaining on back, which shows obvious wear w/moisture staining and surface paper missing. Good overall, but front still displays well w/strong color. Very rare, w/only a few known examples.
