Item Description
Original owner assembled this in the 1950s, using a sports magazine page (showing a Dodgers vs. Phillies game, w/Jackie Robinson sliding into second base) applied to a sheet of vintage cardboard w/advertising on back. To this, they then applied a 7/8x2.25" clipped signature on cardstock, which Jackie boldly signed in red ink. Jackie Robinson made his MLB debut on April 15, 1947 for Branch Rickey's Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming the first African American ballplayer in the modern Major Leagues. Robinson would go on to win the NL Rookie of the Year award in 1947. He was inducted in the National Baseball HOF in 1962. Magazine page shows some rippling as applied to cardboard, which has staple holes at top center margin. Back of cardboard has some tape staining. Fine overall, but clipped signature remains clean and displays Exc. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
