Item Description
Original silver gelatin photo shows Jackie Robinson in Brooklyn Dodgers uniform (as seen on his 1948 Old Gold Cigarettes baseball card) and has been trimmed to 3x4.25" and applied to cardboard. Photo has been signed in blue ink. "Best Wishes" inscription remains strong whereas signature is quite lt. but still partially legible upon close inspection and signature had tape applied over it at one point. Tape has since been removed, leaving some lt. staining and residue at edges. Photo shows some handling wear and is Fine overall. Still a vintage signed photo, desirable despite its flaws. Jackie Robinson made his MLB debut on April 15, 1947 for Branch Rickey's Brooklyn Dodgers, becoming the first African American ballplayer in the modern Major Leagues. Robinson would go on to win the NL Rookie of the Year award in 1947. He was inducted in the National Baseball HOF in 1962. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
