Item Description
3.5x5.5" vintage matte postcard depicting 15 team members in full uniform along with a batboy seated in front. Front of the postcard notates "Columbus Base Ball Team For 1906. Twice Champions of The American Association". The 1906 Columbus team would win their second of three consecutive Class A American Association titles with a record of 91-57, ultimately losing the Junior World Series that year to the Buffalo Bisons. Managed by Bill Clymer, the team produced a total of 13 ballplayers who would go on to play in the Major Leagues: Heinie Berger, Bert Blue, Bill Clymer, Patsy Flaherty, Bill Friel, Ernie Groth, Bill Hinchman, Rudy Hulswitt, Ollie Pickering, Chick Robitaille, Jack Ryan, Bucky Veil and Zeke Wrigley. Postcard exhibits lt., even corner wear with a .25" tear along left edge and scattered lt. staining around borders on front. Back of postcard remains unused and blank. Fine.
