Item Description
These famous cereal give-away buttons were the inspiration of the master creator of premiums for kids, designer Sam Gold. Millions of these 13/16" litho buttons went into post-war cereal boxes issued as five sub-sets of 18 (each sub-set including Superman) over a two year period, 1945-1946, so that in the end 86 different buttons comprised a set. Some characters of note include - Blondie and Dagwood, Dick Tracy, Felix the Cat, Flash Gordon, Jiggs, Olive Oyl, Popeye, Little Orphan Annie, Superman, The Phantom, Warbucks and Wimpy. Condition breaks down as: two VF (Blondie and Tess Trueheart), 18 Exc., and 66 all but flawless NM to Mint. An outstanding set as is, or with 66 of 86 in NM to Mint, a great set to take to completely NM/Mint with 75% of the buttons already there.
