Item Description
3-1/8x8-5/8" Ringling Bros. - World's Greatest Shows check No. 979 is dated March 21, 1912 and has been made out for the amount of $5.50 to one Martin Moeller. Check has been signed in black ink by Charles Ringling (1863-1926), one of the Ringling Brothers, who owned the Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus. Check has been canceled and bears Bank of Baraboo (WI) inkstamp on front. Several check designs were used around this time, this being the more desirable design, featuring the images of the Ringling Brothers at top left. Vertical fold at center and evenly aged; 1" strip of slightly darker aging along right. VF. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
