Item Description
2-1/8" tall hand-carved white plastic figure is prototype of figure that was included in the Wyatt Earp Dodge City Western Town playset from the 1950s that was based on "The Life And Times Of Wyatt Earp" TV series that ran 1955-1961. This prototype features an excellent likeness of Hugh O'Brian, who played Earp on the show. Figure holds a Buntline Special (a .45 pistol w/an extra-long barrel) just like Earp used on the show. Figure came from the Marx factory as noted by partial Marx factory information inked on underside of base, though this is not very legible. This was the factory master sculpt used to make the mold. Figure is complete, including long fragile gun barrel. Scattered dust soiling/aging but VF overall. Unique, one-of-a-kind prototype. Wonderfully detailed, right down to Earp's Deputy U.S. Marshal badge on his chest. Marx prototypes are rare and highly sought after by collectors, especially a figure of this caliber.  Marx Warehouse File Copy from the famous Scala/Bowers Acquisition and subsequent auctions.
