Item Description
This 1936 Cream of Wheat issued club premium is equal to the high-grade NM example we offered in our July 2019 auction which realized $1,947. That example had "Made In U.S.A." under the top which is how premium rings of this era were marked for distribution in Canada. This example was distributed in the USA and thus does not carry that text. What both rings have in common, making them the two best we've offered in our 56 years, is all but flawless glossy brass metallic luster. The 2019 example had one luster dot off the narrow prongs. This ring has no missing luster; however, the one thing keeping it from a Mint grade is a tiny 1/16" long very narrow line of reddish tone on the top edge at 1 o'clock caused somehow by the clear coat luster taking on this trace of translucent color. This ring was known as both the Repeller Ray Ring and the Supreme Inner Circle Ring within the Buck Rogers Club membership literature. Side panels each have tiny star accent w/small "Buck Rogers - Solar Scouts" text. Top depicts Buck Rogers in his rocket ship w/raised arm holding a rocket pistol. He is surrounded by five tiny star accents w/partial image of cratered moon at right w/rays emanating from it. The top left corner of the moon on the surrounding narrow raised edge is where the red tone occurs, but it is very small and as manufactured. The center of the rocket ship has an inset, beautiful emerald green faceted stone. NM and rare in this high grade. One of the top premium rings of the era.
