Item Description
7" tall tin litho w/six long and skinny vinyl-covered wire legs/tentacles. Made in Japan by Hishimo Sangyo Ltd., 1950s. Original box notes toy as "Mechanical Martin" (box not included). Inspired by the sci-fi craze of the 1950s (and owing no small debt to War Of The Worlds), toy is incredibly unusual looking, w/exposed veins covering its entire head. Toy has built-in key and works, walking around in a creeping fashion. Thin paint flake along body seam under eye. Underside edge of head and base platform for legs shows just lt. wear and appearance remains bright and glossy. VF overall. One of the most sought after of all vintage space toys, few examples are known, this just the second we've offered in our 56 years.
