Item Description
21-7/8x27.75" cardboard standee w/unused easel back features photo portrait of Elvis Presley at top, beside and above "Singer Presents Elvis" text; Presley' name in simulated spotlights. Following the success of the '68 Comeback Special (see previous lot), offers came in from around the world. In May 1969, the brand-new International Hotel in Las Vegas, NV, announced that it had booked Presley to perform 57 shows over four weeks, beginning July 31. A follow-up TV special - again sponsored by Singer Sewing Machine Company - was filmed Aug. 1, 1969. This standee also has box of text at bottom right noting Elvis would "Sing His Greatest Hits: Guitar Man - Jailhouse Rock - Hound Dog - Love Me Tender... And Lots More!" Folded at center as designed, standee shows moderate wear, w/some surface scuffs and obvious warping to top/bottom sections and moisture staining along left margin and along left side of center fold. This has caused some bubbling/separation of surface paper along top left margin edge. Small .25" puncture to top of last letter of "Elvis." VG overall. Rare.
