Item Description
Set of seven 8.5x11" sheets w/bw self-portraits of Marvel artists, w/said artists surrounded by various Marvel characters, w/printed biographies on the reverse of each. Initially offered as part of the 19-page Marvelmania Comic Artist Inking and Coloring Kit as advertised in the first Marvelmania catalog in 1969. The second catalog featured these seven prints as a separate Artist Self Portraits set (w/o folder) for $1.25. This proved to be one of Marvel's most popular offerings through Marvelmania. Artists featured include - Jack Kirby, John Romita Sr., Marie Severin, Herb Trimpe, Gene Colan, John Buscema and Jim Steranko. Of note, Steranko's self-portrait does not feature any comic characters. Sheets have lt. even aging and some lt. scattered wear. VF to Exc. overall. Superb specialty art throughout, making this a set coveted by Marvel collectors.
