Item Description
7x8.5" w/88 pages. Cupples & Leon comic strip reprint book ©1929 The Chicago Tribune. Book features Babe Ruth on front cover w/Smitty. Ruth is also featured on the inside and book also has appearances by fellow HOFers Grover Cleveland Alexander and Rogers Hornsby. Title page has specialty art w/Smitty saying "Say Babe, Listen To 'Em Cheering Us" w/cheering crowd in bkg. and Ruth standing nearby w/bat on shoulder. Storyline has Smitty working for a newspaper sports department, which allows him to go to the ballpark to meet Ruth, talking to Ruth numerous times at various games, meeting Grover Cleveland Alexander, Rogers Hornsby etc. He gets Grover Alexander's glove but winds up in the hospital after getting hit by foul ball and Ruth comes to visit him. Covers show lt. wear, w/some corner tip wear and faint spot of staining to lower right corner of front cover. Fine/VF. Pages are evenly aged to cream in color and are o/w Exc. Wonderful baseball content.
