Item Description
Pair of concert posters for Ann Arbor, MI concerts featuring Gil Scott-Heron, whose spoken word song The Revolution Will Not Be Televised was a rallying cry for the Black Power civil rights movement in the early 1970s. Both concerts saw him joined by The Midnight Band. 11x17" cardstock poster for April 7, 1974 "Election Night" concert at University of Michigan's Michigan Union Ballroom. The concert also featured six local bands for "Get Out To Vote Dance." Poster features stylized photo image of Scott-Heron. Surface paper lifts at bottom corners as once taped, does not affect poster design. Thin strip of aging along upper right margin. Fine/VF overall. 11.5x15" poster for Dec. 5, 1974 concert at Michigan Theatre. Part of "The After Midnight Series," poster features illustration of Scott-Heron w/microphone. Poster has 2x4.5" rectangle of heavy aging at lower right corner and staple holes at corners. Scattered margin aging and handling wear w/spot of moisture staining at upper right. Fine overall.
