Item Description
23x29" cardstock poster for May 24, 1974 concert that took place at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, PA featuring The Godfather of Soul James Brown, along w/Fred Wesley & The JBs, Maceo & The Macks, Lyn Collins and Shades of Soul. Poster design features photo collage of Brown holding jet and "James Brown Enterprises, Inc. tour bus back w/his outstretched hands. Top of post notes "The Packback," referencing Brown's 37th studio album, which was originally set to be the soundtrack for 1973 Blaxploitation film Hell Up In Harlem. Despite being rejected for the film for not being "funky" enough, the album went on to be considered among Brown's best w/the title track becoming an R&B hit, ultimately becoming Brown's only album to be certified a Gold Record. Poster shows obvious wear, w/staples/staple holes and pulls resulting in four margin/corner holes measuring .5" to 1.25" long. Poster also has heavy horizontal crease at center resulting in visible surface paper loss. Staple used for display still present by Maceo & The Macks name. Good/VG overall.
