Item Description
1.25". The Brownsville Affair was a 1906 incident in Texas in which a white bartender was killed and a white police officer shot, w/few other details known. The townspeople in Brownsville accused the African American soldiers of the 25th Infantry of the crime. Despite a lack of evidence, President Roosevelt ordered the entire 167-man regiment to be "Discharged Without Honor". Six decades later, the men were posthumously pardoned and had their records changed to honorable discharge. Oxidation on collet w/scattered edge foxing. Otherwise even aging and scattered bumps seen in reflected light. VG. California Button Collection.
