Item Description
2.5x3.5". The 1965 Topps Baseball set consists of 598 cards. Each card features a large player color photograph framed with a thin red line and white border; the player's name and position are printed within the border area. A team pennant appears at the lower left corner. The 1965 Topps set is divided into "Low Numbers" (#s 1-506) and "High Numbers" (#s 507-598) with the latter only slightly more difficult to locate and home to 78 "Short Prints." There are no significant errors or variations.  Edward Charles "Whitey" Ford, nicknamed "the Chairman of the Board", was an American professional baseball pitcher who played his entire 16-year Major League Baseball (MLB) career with the New York Yankees. He was a 10-time All-Star and 6-time World Series champion. In 1961, he won both the Cy Young Award and World Series Most Valuable Player Award. Ford led the American League (AL) in wins three times and in earned run average twice. He is the Yankees franchise leader in career wins (236), shutouts (45), innings pitched (3,170+1/3), and games started by a pitcher (438; tied with Andy Pettitte). Ford was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1974.
