Item Description
3" w/no maker's name. This  landmark "rock musical" tells the story of the "tribe", a group of activist hippies in the "Age Of Aquarius" living in NYC and fighting against conscription into the Vietnam War. Debuting in 1967 off-Broadway and after a two month run at the Cheetah nightclub, the show opened on Broadway in April, 1968 and ran for 1,750 performances. Likely this button was purchased as a souvenir at the Biltmore Theatre. In 1969 it won a Tony for Best Musical and it won a Grammy for Best Score From An Original Cast Show Album. One known to us. NM and rare. This is the example used for the photo in Button Power by Carter & Hake and comes w/Hake's COA.
