Item Description
2.25" w/copyright on curl "Hookfast, Prov. R. I." This 1969 festival was an experiment in fusing three music styles and their respective audiences, not without some conflicts from some 50,000 without tickets who filled an adjacent hillside. Some highlights of the performers: Thursday- Sun Ra, Freddie Hubbard, Jimmy Smith, Art Blakey, Sonny Stitt.
Friday- Blood, Sweat & Tears. Rahsaan Roland Kirk, The Jeff Beck Group, Jethro Tull. Saturday- Dave Brubeck, Miles Davis, Sly & The Family Stone, Frank Zappa. Sunday- James Brown, Led Zeppelin, Herbie Hancock and B.B. King. Miles Davis remarked that the various acts were highly encouraging to each other and he enjoyed the festival more than ever before. Light surface wear and small upper left scuff all seen just in reflected light. High gloss. VF and scarce. This is the example used for the photo in Button Power (however dated incorrectly) by Carter & Hake and comes w/Hake's COA.
