Item Description
Pair of Crescent illustration boards w/mixed media original art and retouched photo art for front cover to VHS cassette box for 1989 release of the 1980 Canadian horror-thriller directed by John Huston and starring Paul Michael Glaser. Artist is unknown. Larger 22.5x27" board features 20x24.25" sheet of retouched photo art; same design as used for main image of the film's movie poster, w/outline of shadowy head, half of face covered w/pastiche of five different primal fears that are addressed in the film. Board has acetate overlay attached at top w/tape; textured paper overlay is included, but no longer attached and has 4" tear. Margins have some lt. glue staining as once likely matted. VF overall. Smaller 20x24.24" board has label on attached textured paper overlay w/handwritten "Note: Original Artwork Has Been Retouched." Additional acetate overlay also notes "Note: This Is Actual Retouched Artwork." Board has mounted 16x20" sheet of photo paper w/airbrushed original art showing dizzying city scene from above. This was bkg. for one of the phobia pastiches used on the larger board and ultimately on the VHS box (w/additional image of woman falling to her death added over top). Margins for this smaller board also have some lt. glue staining as once matted. VF overall, but art could be easily matted for Exc. display. Both boards' paper overlays have handwritten film title.
