Collection of six different sketches on sheet of paper mounted to 20x32" drafting board. c. 1940s. Sketches include Little Pedro sketched in blue ink by Bill de la Tone who has added "Thanks For A Swell Job;" Smokey Stover in faded ink by Bill Holman and has signed "To John-A Swell Guy And No Help At All;" Sweeney of "Sweeney & Son" in blue ink by Al Posen w/added "Best Wishes To Our Fellow Performer John Clark From Sweeney & Son And Al Posen" w/Sweeny adding "Thanks, John!" word balloon. Archie creator Bob Montana has included a nice sketch of Archie Andrews w/text "To 'Glockie' The Name Is Wrong-But The 'Fez' Is Familiar! Thanks For Being In The Act Johnny-Archie And Bob Montana." Grease pencil sketch of The Lone Ranger has text reading "Hi-Yo John Clark!" by Tom Gill and also signed "The Lone Ranger." Slightly faded ink profile sketch of The Phantom has been done by Wilson McCoy w/text "Best Wishes To John Clark From The Phantom." All are still very legible w/exception of Smokey Stover which has faded significantly but is still visible upon close inspection. Original paper surface has been folded three times horizontally and once vertically and is now mounted to stiff board. As such, there are three small areas of surface paper loss at fold creases along top horizontal crease. Some paper chipping at margins, not affecting illustrations. Upper right corner has some spotting and a 3/8x.75" area of discoloration. With exception of Smokey Stover illustration, which is VG, remaining illustrations have a Fine to VF appearance. Unique and nice gathering.
