Item Description
10x13.5" comic artboard has mixed media original art by prolific and renowned Spanish comics cover artist Rafael López Espí. Cover is for Captain America Vol. 3 #36, which reprints Captain America story from issue #170-171. Published in Spain by Mundi, c. late 1970s. Artboard has been hand-painted from edge to edge w/unique layout from the US issue cover #171 by John Romita. Image has Captain America being broke out from prison by the "Sanitation Unit". Image is based on page 1 of the issue by Sal Buscema. Artboard has lt. aging/handling wear but art remains bright and clean. Exc. A wonderful example from the era when Espí's art dominated covers of Spanish comic books, featuring one of Marvel's popular characters. Superb and dynamic cover art. Comes w/reading copy of the Spanish comic this cover art was created for.
