Item Description
1.5". Brass shell frame w/inset celluloid oval featuring photo of "The Big Train" on the mound. His last name below the image. He played his entire 21-year baseball career for the Senators (1907-1927), going on to manage the team 1929-1932. A two-time AL MVP and 1924 World Series champion. Walter would ultimately become one of five members of the very first National Baseball Hall of Fame induction class in 1936. A mystery in the hobby, this rare set remains without identification as to the issuer or method of distribution. All from this series rarely come up for sale and when they do, it is often with much luster wear to the frame, aging of the cello and/or very light player images. This example retains much luster. Cello is bright and clean w/a sharp and distinct image. NM and about as nice as these come.
