Item Description
16x20" masonite board has airbrushed image of the U.S.S. Enterprise from the 1960s TV series. Art title "Orbiting A Red Sun" at lower front left. Back has "No. 7-1226" and title again. Artist's studio sticker on back. Morris Scott Dollens (1920 - 1994) was an American artist and writer of science fiction. He began his career in science-fiction fanzines in 1936, at the age of 16. He later became famous for paintings he created for science fiction books and magazines in the 1950s. Dollens painted at least 1,700 paintings and continued selling them until 1989. He is famous for his renderings of planetscapes and renderings of distant suns. The painting is made with acrylic paint on Masonite. A similar image was used on the cover of the fanzine "Questar". Back has some lt. stains and remnant of double sided tape. Front has lt. aging/wear. Some minor lt. scuffing on bottom of art. VF. No indication of publication.
